1. Chris Gonzales is a 6-foot-5, 345-pound offensive lineman from San Diego Mesa College.
He was named to the National Southern League Conference all-conference team.
He had offers from Valdosta State, Norfolk State, Mississippi Valley State, Grambling, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Texas Southern, and Jackson State.
He chose to attend Jackson State, a SWAC favorite.
Gonzales is the first JUCO transfer to commit to Jackson State since head coach Deion Sanders took over in 2021.
Sanders has been recruiting heavily at JUCOs, and Gonzales is one of several high-profile recruits he has landed.
Gonzales is expected to make an immediate impact for the Tigers.
He will help solidify the offensive line, which was a major weakness last season.
Gonzales' commitment is a major coup for Sanders and Jackson State.
It shows that Sanders is building a winning program at Jackson State.
